Ajax - dé technologische revolutie van 2005

Ajax is een programmeertechniek dat staat voor Asynchronous Javascript & XML. AJAX zorgt er voor dat webapplicaties supersnel worden, zoals bvb. de supersnelle opeenvolging van beelden op Google Maps.

Stow Boyd heeft er op Corantes Get Real blog een enthousiaste post over gedaan, waarin hij onder andere verwijst naar de blog eHub, waarop constant nieuwe voorbeelden van web2.0 toepassingen (waaronder sites die in Ajax ontwikkeld zijn), op gepost worden. Een onschatbaar groeiend archief van wat een revolutie in webontwikkeling lijkt te zijn.

Stow Boyd schrijft hier onder andere het volgende over:

I am truly amazed at the innovation that seems to be spinning out of the Ajax movement. Dozens of web apps are being conceived and spun out: people are having parties where the purpose is to dream up and then implement (in real-time) an app as a group activity. Wild stuff. There are a number of these apps that fall short (like NumSum, which I really wanted to use as a replacement for Excel, but it is too limited at the moment), but a larger and growing number of truly useful apps that have been spawned recently that are truly revolutionary, like Basecamp, and the new Last.fm release.
