Restaurant 2.0 - Or how web2.0 Philosophy enters the real world

FoodfacilitySpringwise, a site and a newsletter for new business ideas, reports on a new and - according to me - fascinating dining concept that has sprung up in Amsterdam recently. It's called Food Facility. Food Facility is a temporary restaurant without a kitchen, Diners go online in the restaurant itself to choose between menus from existing take-out restaurants in the area, while a guy they call a "food advisor " informs them about the quality of the food and estimated delivery times, and then places their order. A "food DJ" takes the order from the delivery person and does away with the packing materials, before the food advisor serves the food at one's table.

The cool thing about this idea is that it clearly got's its inspiration from the way the internet is evolving into the remixable web. Take for instance our blog: the daily bookmarks come from del.icio.us, the search function comes from Google, the sitestats is provided by Measuremap (yes, we're alpha testers, and it rocks!), the daily e-mail service is provided by Feedblitz and thanks to RSS, you can read our blog in your RSS-reader. In other words: Web2.0 is a ecosystem that provides us with a rich environment of services that we can mix into our own blog. Now the clever thing about Food Facility is that it uses the ecosystem in which it is embedded - i.e. the neigbourhood's Take-Away Restaurants - in order to offer a whole new experience. This is not just cool, it's revolutionairy (pardon my excitement ;-).

Update: My wife thinks it sucks. :-(
