Brands (are)(will become) channels
Believe it or not - I think it was 1998 when I lauched the idea "brands will become channels". Some of our clients reached that "status" now. Funny to read many years later that even Google and Yahoo start feeling this ongoing trend. In Web Ads' New Spin you can read: "Believe it or not, Google (GOOG:Nasdaq) and Yahoo! (YHOO:Nasdaq) don't always benefit when companies advertise online.
Increasingly, huge advertisers ranging from Dunkin' Donuts to Anheuser-Busch (BUD:NYSE) are trying to lure consumers directly to their own sites with content and promotions -- potentially bypassing the largest search engine and top Web portal."
